Wilkes Men's Cross Country Places Sixth of 10 Teams at Misericordia Invitational
DALLAS, PA – The Wilkes University men's cross country team opened the 2021 season at the Misericordia Invitational competing in a 4k race Friday evening. The Colonels placed sixth of 10 teams with 98 total runners participating.

Eight of 11 Colonels made their race debuts for Wilkes while three others returned to the course for the first time in the Navy and Gold since the 2019 season.
First-year
Conner Anascavage (Shamokin, PA/Shamokin) led Wilkes as he placed 31st with a time of 14:30.40. First-year
Ryan Djurkovic (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) placed 36th with a 14:39.20 while another first-year,
Raymond Anderson (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga) placed 41st with a 14:50.00. First-year
Richard Stafford (Blue Point, NY/Bayport-Blue Point) came home 43rd with a 14:55.60 and first-year
Zachary Spurrier (Frederick, MD/Middletown) rounded out the five Colonels to score as he placed 55th with a time of 15:30.30. Wilkes accumulated 177 team points between the five first-year runners.

Frank Yuscavage (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) (62nd, 15:49.30),
Kaleb Hanson-Richart (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Meyers) (73rd, 16:22.20), and
Benjamin Amaya (Dunmore, PA/Dunmore) (84th, 17:12.50).
Susquehanna won the team event with 43 points while Jack Warehime of Susquehanna was the top finisher overall with a time of 12:55.80.
Wilkes returns to the course on Saturday, September 18 for the Cougar Classic, again hosted by Misericordia, as the team begins its 8k season.
