Edwards Speeds to Personal Best as Wilkes Men's Cross Country Places Seventh at LVC Last Chance Run Fast

Caleb Edwards (Grahamsville, NY/Tri-Valley Central) ran a personal best to lead the Wilkes University men's cross country team at the LVC Last Chance Run Fast on Friday evening at Union Canal Tunnel Park. Wilkes placed seventh of 10 teams and Edwards' time of 27:12.1 was good for the third fastest 8k since the re-establishment of the program in 2008.
Overall and Team Results
The Colonels placed seventh with 195 team points from its five scoring runners in the 8k race that featured 102 runners.
Edwards paced the Colonels with a 16th place finish overall.
Zachary Spurrier (Frederick, MD/Middletown) was the next across the finish line for Wilkes as the sophomore finished with a career best 28:13.6 and was 34th overall. Junior
Dustin Edsall (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) recorded his personal best time of 30:18.5 to finish 61st overall. Senior
Brandon Whitman (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) was 69th with a time of 31.19.7.
Gabe Krem (Macungie, PA/Emmaus) rounded out the Colonels to score for the team as the first year runner placed 74th overall with a time of 32:13.1. Fellow first year
Isaiah Rogers-Keeney (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area) rounded out the Colonels in 78th with a time of 32:46.3.
Division II Kutztown University took first place with a score of 25 points and Kutztown's Cody Schabener placed first overall with a finishing time of 25:51.7.
The Colonels will compete at the 2022 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships next weekend again at Union Canal Tunnel Park. Wilkes will get its race started at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29.
