Wilkes Men's and Women's Cross Country Open 2026 Season at Misericordia Invitational

DALLAS, Pa. – After being rained out on Tuesday, the Wilkes University men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2026 campaigns at the Misericordia Invitational on Friday evening.

The women's race went out first, and the Colonels finished fourth out of four teams with a total of 109 points. Ava Bailor (Brogue, PA/Red Lion) led the Colonels with an 11th-place finish and a time of 17:03.30. Julia Lewis (Hanover Township, PA/Wyoming Seminary) and Anna Glass finished in 23rd and 24th place, with times of 19:06.30 and 20:11.20, respectively. Audrey Cornell (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) finished 25th at 21:55.40, and Brianna Wright (Harveys Lake, PA/Lake Lehman) rounded out the Colonels in 26th with a time of 27:15.70.

The men started 45 minutes later, with Wilkes finishing fifth of five teams and a score of 126 points. Jack Thompson (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) recorded a top-10 finish, finishing sixth with a time of 13:12.40. Daniel Elkin (West Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) finished in 27th place with a time of 15:05.30, and Lesley Griglak (Great Meadows, NJ/Hackettstown) was closely behind Elkin in 29th with a time of 15:34.70. Brett Martinez (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) finished 31st at 16:03.20, and Damien Muffolini placed 33rd with a time of 19:23.90.

Both teams will head back to Dallas for the Cougar Classic on Saturday, Sept. 12, with the women's race starting at 10:15 a.m., followed by the men at 11:00 a.m.
