Colonels Notebook    
• Wilkes wrestling is set to continue its road stretch of the 2022-2023 season with a dual match against No. 21 The College of New Jersey at 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 11 at the TCNJ Rec Center. The Colonels will also participate in the Racich Rumble Tournament hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday, November 12 starting at 9:30 a.m. Also competing at the tournament will be Alvernia, Camden County, Cortland, Delaware Valley, Elizabethtown, Johns Hopkins, King's, Messiah, NYU, Saint John Fisher, WPI, and York (Pa.).

• Wilkes opened its season last Saturday placing third of 11 teams at the Ned McGinley Invitational hosted by King's. Jack Bauer (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) went 4-0 in taking the 141 pound title while fellow teammate James Geiger (Dallas, PA/Dallas) won the 174 title. Three Colonels finished as runner-ups, including Austin Fashouer (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) at 125, Cameron Butka (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) at 197, and Caleb Burkhart (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville) at 285. Nevin Rauch (New Columbia, PA/Milton) fell to Burkhart in the semifinals at 285, where he took fourth place for the Colonels. Hunter Lowe (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill), John Devito (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central), and Nikko Partsanakis (/Media, PA) finished in the top six of their weight classes for Wilkes.

• Five Colonels were selected in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Preseason Regional Rankings. Fashouer was selected sixth in the National Rankings while projected to finish second in the Southeast Regional in the 125 weight class. His fellow teammates were all projected to finish in the top six in the Southeast Regional which included: Geiger to place second in 165, Butka to finish fourth at 197, with Bauer and Rauch to place sixth at 133 and 285 respectively.

• The Colonels 2022-2023 roster goes 35 deep with a class breakdown of: 5 seniors; 7 juniors; 12 sophomores; and 11 first-years.

• The roster features athletes from six states and one province: Pennsylvania – 19; New Jersey – 9; New York – 2; Virginia – 2; Maryland – 1; Louisiana - 1; Alberta – 1

• TCNJ has four grapplers ranked in the NWCA Preseason Individual Rankings. Mike Conklin is ranked fifth at 149, Matt Saccoo was picked seventh at 157, while both Domenic Difrancescantonio and Quinn Haddad were placed ninth at the 141 and 197 weight class respectively.

• The Racich Rumble Tournament will feature 16 nationally ranked wrestlers from the participating teams, which include: Alvernia (No. 3 Matt Lackman at 165, No. 8 Issac Kassis at 184, No. 9 Palmer Rodenhaber at 285, and No. 11 Mauro Pellot at 197), Cortland (No. 6 Demitreus Henry at 184, No. 8 Jayden Cardenas at 133, and No. 13 Cody Merwin at 125), Elizabethtown (No. 15 Dylan Waller at 285), Messiah (No. 15 Garrett Cornell at 157), NYU (No. 4 Cooper Pontelandolfo at 165, No. 6 Trent Furman at 157, No. 7 Jason Geyer at 184, and No. 10 Matt Kelly at 197), and York (Pa.) (No. 2 Cam Farrow at 197, No. 3 Dalton Rohrbaugh at 133, and No. 11 Jared Kuhns at 125).
