Wilkes Men's Basketball Releases 2023-24 Schedule

WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University athletic department has announced the Colonels 2023-24 men's basketball schedule Monday morning to begin a series featuring schedules for its winter sports teams.

The Colonels make the transition to the Landmark Conference for the 2023-24 season under the direction of head coach Izzi Metz who is entering his tenth season at Wilkes. The Colonels play 25 regular season games including 18 Landmark Conference contests. Twelve of the games will be at the newly renovated Henry Gymnasium inside the Marts Center. Wilkes will also play an exhibition game at Division I Lafayette College on Sunday, November 19 at 1:00 p.m.

Wilkes opens the 2023-24 season with a home game against Keystone College on Thursday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Marts Center. The Colonels then travel to Lebanon Valley College on Wednesday, November 15 for a matchup at 7:30 p.m. in Annville, Pa. Wilkes hosts Alvernia University on Saturday, November 18 at 3:00 p.m. one day prior to the road exhibition at Lafayette in Easton, Pa. Before Thanksgiving break the Colonels host Marywood University on Tuesday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m.

The Colonels are set for their inaugural Landmark Conference game on Wednesday, November 29 hosting the University of Scranton at 7:00 p.m. Three more Landmark Conference games follow before the end of the fall semester. Wilkes travels to Catholic University on Saturday, December 2 at 2:00 p.m. in Washington, D.C. and then plays at Lycoming College on Wednesday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m. in Williamsport, Pa. The stretch of league games ends at the Marts Center against Juniata College on Saturday, December 9 at 2:00 p.m.

Wilkes is set for a road matchup at Clarks Summit University on Monday, December 18 and closes out the 2023 calendar year with a trip to Daytona Beach, Fla. to compete at the Florida Sunshine Shootout. The Colonels are slated to play Centre College on Thursday, December 28 at 8:00 p.m. and Hamline University on Friday, December 29 at 6:00 p.m. to finish the non-conference portion of the schedule.

Fourteen Landmark Conference games follow to close out the schedule in the New Year. A trip to Baltimore, Md. on Wednesday, January 3 for a 2:00 p.m. tip at Goucher College is followed by a home contest against Elizabethtown College on Saturday, January 6 at 2:00 p.m. The Colonels host Drew University on Wednesday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m. and then play at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa. on Saturday, January 13 at 2:00 p.m. Wilkes finishes the first half of league play at Moravian University on Wednesday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pa.

The second time through the Landmark Conference teams begins with Catholic University at the Marts Center on Saturday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m. The Colonels host Lycoming College on Wednesday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m. before playing at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa. on Saturday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. and at the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pa. on Wednesday, January 31 at 7:00 p.m.

Wilkes hosts Susquehanna University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3 before its final two road games of the regular season at Drew University on Wednesday, February 7 at 7:00 p.m. in Madison, N.J. and at Elizabethtown College on Saturday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m. in Elizabethtown, Pa. The Colonels close out the regular season with home games against Moravian University on Wednesday, February 14 at 7:00 p.m. and against Goucher College on Saturday, February 17 at 2:00 p.m.

Wilkes was 4-4 during the 2022-23 season against teams on the 2023-24 slate which included Clarks Summit, Scranton, Alvernia, Marywood, Lycoming, Lebanon Valley, and Keystone.

Wilkes will continue to release its 2023-24 winter schedules with women's basketball on Wednesday.
