MEDIA – The Wilkes University men's cross country team competed in the 8k at the Dan Talbot Open hosted by Bryn Mawr College Friday afternoon at Rose Tree Park.

The Colonels did not post a team score, as they only had three runners compete. The 8k featured 48 runners from nine different schools.
 
Justin Ashman (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown Area) led the Wilkes team to the finish line. The First Year finished 19th overall with a time of 33:45.52, beating his previous personal record of 34:36.0 that was set at the 2023 Cougar Classic.
 
Senior Dustin Edsall (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) came in at 24th overall with a time of 34:06.99. Sophomore Addison Smargiassi (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) rounded out the Colonels contingent with a time of 34:19.85, good for 25th overall. This time beat his 8k personal record of 34:24.9 that was set at the 2023 Cougar Classic.
 
Ivan Zavala-Zavala of Immaculata University placed first place with a time of 28:24.37. Goldey-Beacom College took first place of five team scores with 31 points.
 
The Colonels return to action on Friday, October 20 at the LVC Last Chance Run Fast, hosted by Lebanon Valley College at Union Canal Tunnel Park.
