Wilkes Basketball Wraps up Season Series with Lycoming
 
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams get set to take on Lycoming College for a pair of mid-week Landmark games on Wednesday evening. The men host the Warriors inside the Marts Center at 7:00 p.m., while the women make the trip to Williamsport for a 7:00 p.m. tip.

Men's Preview
 
The Colonels look to bounce back from a hard-fought 85-78 loss to No. 20 Catholic University last Saturday. The team currently stands at 13-4 overall and 6-4 in Landmark play.
 
Lucas Lesko (Northampton, PA/Northampton) leads the team in scoring averaging 16.7 points per game, the fourth-best mark in the Landmark Conference. Cayden Merrifield (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) and Trent Fisher (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) are the other two Colonels averaging double-digits with 15.2 and 14.7 ppg respectively, putting the duo sixth and seventh in the conference right behind Lesko.
 
Fisher dominates the stat sheet for the Colonels, leading the team in rebounds (8.7 rpg, fourth in the conference), assists (3.3 apg, seventh in conference), and field goal percentage (.575, second in the conference).
 
The Colonel defense continues to be one of the best units in the Landmark, led by Lesko and Fisher with 1.5 and 1.4 blocks per game respectively, the second and third-best marks in the Landmark. Joey Zvorsky (New Cumberland, PA/Cedar Cliff) leads the team with 1.7 steals per game, good for seventh in the conference.
 
As a unit, the defense ranks second in the conference in opponent field goal percentage (.406) and defensive efficiency (65.8 ppg allowed)/ The team stands at third in opponent three-point field goal percentage (.317).
 
The team sits fourth in scoring offense (74.4 ppg), second in field goal percentage (.460), and seventh in three-point field goal percentage (.324).
 
Lycoming comes into this game looking to snap a four-game losing streak after falling to Elizabethtown 72-65 on Saturday. Their season record stands at 6-11 with a 2-8 record in conference play.
 
Steven Hamilton leads the team in scoring averaging 12.6 ppg, followed by Isaiah Valentine and Hayden Pardoe averaging 10.9 and 9.8 ppg respectively. Pardoe leads the team in rebounding with 6.8 rpg, which is good for the seventh-best in the Landmark. Meanwhile, Hamilton leads the team in assists averaging 3.5 per game.
 
Pardoe also leads the team in field goal percentage at .477 and Hamilton leads the team from beyond the arc with a .375 three-point shooting percentage.
 
The Lycoming offense ranks tenth in field goal percentage (.393), eighth in three-point percentage (.314), and ninth in offensive efficiency (65.8 ppg). Defensively, they are sixth in the conference for defensive efficiency (74.6 ppg), fifth in opponent field goal percentage (.423), and ninth in opponent three-point percentage (.362).
 
Women's Preview
 
The Colonels come into this contest looking to avenge their 80-39 defeat at the hands of No. 9 Catholic University on Saturday. The loss brought Wilkes to 7-10 overall with a 3-7 record in conference play.
 
Yamirelis Matos (Springfield, MA/Chicopee) leads the Colonels in scoring averaging 13.6 ppg, the sixth-best in the conference. She is followed by Nadia Evanosky (Dallas, PA/Dallas), who is averaging 8.8 ppg. Brenna Babcock (Sweet Valley, PA/Northwest Area) (7.9 ppg), Erin Shober (Reading, PA/Wilson) (6.9 ppg), and Taylor Simpson (Dunmore, PA/Lawrenceville School) (5.1 ppg) round out the team's top five scorers.
 
Matos also leads the team in rebounds averaging 6.1 rpg, while Shober and Madison Robel (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) average 5.9 and 5.2 rpg respectively.
 
Shober continues to be a dominant defensive force under the hoop for the Colonels, leading the team and the conference with 62 blocks, good for third in the nation. Her 3.6 blocks per game average puts her fifth in the nation and top of the conference. Matos leads the team in steals averaging 2.9 per game, the third-best mark in the conference.
 
Julia Marino (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) has been the best ball distributor for the Colonels, leading the team and placing third in the conference with 3.1 assists per game.
 
Babcock has been one of the Colonels' most consistent shooters, holding a team-best .467 field goal percentage. Meanwhile, Matos leads the team from beyond the arc with a .309 three-point percentage.
 
The Colonel defense remains one of the stronger groups in the conference, boasting the best opponent three-point field goal percentage (.224), the fourth-best opponent field goal percentage (.337), and most blocks (5.94 bpg). They also have the fifth-most efficient defense in the conference, allowing only 61.6 ppg.
 
On offense, Wilkes sits seventh in the conference in field goal percentage (.345) and scoring efficiency (55.4 ppg) while standing eighth in the conference for three-point field goal percentage (.236).
 
Lycoming heads to the Marts Center on a two-game skid after falling to Elizabethtown 75-45 last Saturday. The Warriors are 9-8 on the season and enter the Landmark matchup with a 3-7 record in conference play.
 
Emily Lockard leads the team in scoring averaging 12.8 ppg, the seventh-best mark in the conference. Ashley Yoh (10.1 ppg) and Meghan Dufner (9.8 ppg) round out the top three scorers for Lycoming. Scoblick leads the team in rebounding averaging 6.8 rebounds per game and Sarah White leads the team in assists with 2.8 apg.
 
Lockard leads the team in field goal percentage at .500, which places her at third in the Landmark. Meanwhile, Kami Abdo takes top honors from beyond the arc at a .311 three-point percentage.
 
The Warriors' offense sits fifth in the conference in offensive efficiency (58.4 ppg) and field goal percentage (.359). The team ranks ninth in three-point percentage at .229. Defensively, the group is ranked tenth in opponent three-point percentage (.341) and ninth in defensive efficiency (65.6 ppg) and opponent field goal percentage (.403).
