Wilkes Basketball Welcomes Goucher for Senior Day Season Finale
 
WILKES-BARRE – Wilkes University men's and women's basketball wrap up the regular season at the Marts Center on Saturday as they welcome Goucher University for Senior Day. The men tip-off at 2:00 p.m. followed by the women at 4:00 p.m.

Men's Preview
The Colonels solidified a home-court playoff game in their last game against Moravian on Wednesday, defeating the Greyhounds 72-57 at the Marts Center. They head into the regular season finale with an 18-6 overall record and an 11-6 record against Landmark Conference opposition.

Lucas Lesko (Northampton, PA/Northampton) leads the team in scoring averaging 16.4 points per game, the fourth-best mark in the conference. Trent Fisher (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) and Cayden Merrifield (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) are the other two Colonels averaging double-digits, averaging 14.9 and 14.8 ppg respectively, putting the duo seventh and eighth in the conference.

Fisher dominates the stat sheet for the Colonels, also leading the team in rebounds (9.8 rpg, leads conference) and assists (3.3 apg, sixth in the conference). Joey Zvorsky (New Cumberland, PA/Cedar Cliff) leads the team in field goal percentage at .581 while Merrifield leads beyond the arc at a .359 three-point percentage.

The Colonel defense continues to be one of the premier units in the Landmark, led by Lesko and Fisher with 1.5 and 1.4 blocks per game respectively, the second and third-best averages in the conference. Zvorsky leads the team with 1.7 steals per game.

The defense ranks first in the conference in defensive efficiency (65.7 ppg allowed), and second in opponent field goal percentage (.402) and opponent three-point field goal percentage (.317).

Offensively, the team sits second in field goal percentage (.462), third in offensive efficiency (75.8 ppg), and sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.329).

Goucher enter the Marts Center with a 9-15 overall record and a 7-10 record in conference play. They were bested by Catholic in their last outing 84-71.

Jacob Morgan leads the Gophers in scoring averaging 13.7 ppg. Liech Kong is the only other player averaging double-digits at 10.5 ppg.

Morgan also leads the team in assists, averaging 3.9 apg which is tied for the conference lead. Kong leads the team in rebounding, averaging 6.3 rpg, and also three-point percentage at .361. Jaden Workman leads the team in field goal percentage at .486.

Offensively the Gophers sit eighth in the Landmark averaging 67.6 ppg, and ninth in field goal percentage (.412) and three-point percentage (.312).

On defense, Goucher ranks top of the conference in opponent three-point percentage (.315), seventh in defensive efficiency (75.6 ppg allowed), and eighth in opponent field goal percentage (.448).

Goucher has struggled away from home, only winning two games on the road this season.
 
Women's Preview
The Colonels lost at Moravian in their last contest 47-55, falling to 8-16 on the year and 4-13 in Landmark play.

Yamirelis Matos (Springfield, MA/Chicopee) leads the Colonels in scoring averaging 13.0 ppg, the sixth-best number in the conference. She is followed by Brenna Babcock (Sweet Valley, PA/Northwest Area), who is averaging 8.4 ppg. Nadia Evanosky (Dallas, PA/Dallas) (8.2 ppg), Erin Shober (Reading, PA/Wilson) (7.9 ppg), and Taylor Simpson (Dunmore, PA/Lawrenceville School) (5.7 ppg) round out the team's top five scorers.

Shober and Matos are tied for the team lead in rebounds, each averaging 6.0 rpg.

Shober continues to be a dominant defensive force under the hoop for the Colonels, setting a new program record for blocks in a single season this year. The senior center leads the team and the conference with 78 blocks, good for a tied fourth place in the nation. Her 3.25 blocks per game average ties her at seventh in the nation and top of the conference. Matos leads the team in steals averaging 2.5 per game, the fourth-best mark in the conference.

Julia Marino (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) has been the best ball distributor for the Colonels, leading the team and sitting fourth in the conference with 3.1 assists per game.

Babcock has been one of the Colonels' most consistent shooters, holding a team-best .481 field goal percentage. Meanwhile, Matos leads the team from beyond the arc with a .315 three-point percentage.

The Colonel defense boasts the most blocks in the conference (5.58 bpg) and the second-best opponent three-point field goal percentage only allowing .248 percent of shots from beyond the arc. They also hold the fourth-best opponent field goal percentage (.347) and the seventh-most efficient defense in the conference, allowing 63.7 ppg.

On offense, Wilkes sits fifth in the conference in field goal percentage (.358) and three-point field goal percentage (.254), and seventh in scoring efficiency (55.6 ppg).

Goucher come into this game with a 1-23 overall record and a 1-16 record in Landmark play. Their last outing was a 93-25 defeat against Catholic on Wednesday.

Merci Turner leads the team in scoring averaging 12.5 ppg, the only Gopher averaging double-digit scoring. She also leads in rebounding (6.2 rpg) and field goal percentage (.325).

Maiya Villanueva leads the team in assists with 2.3 apg, while Julia Cavoli leads from beyond the arc with a .330 three-point percentage.

Offensively, Goucher sit seventh in the conference in three-point percentage (.245), but rank last in both field goal percentage (.288) and offensive efficiency (50.2 ppg). Defensively, the Gophers rank fifth in opponent three-point percentage (.269), but last in opponent field goal percentage (.423) and defensive efficiency (82.1 ppg allowed).
