No. 5 Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Set for First Postseason Appearance in a UCHC Quarterfinal at No. 4 Arcadia
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team is set to compete it the program's first ever postseason game as the fifth-seeded Colonels play in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) Tournament Quarterfinal on Wednesday, February 21 at fourth-seeded Arcadia University in Colmar, Pa. at the Hatfield Ice Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Wilkes completed a historic season for the program, finishing the regular season with a 17-6-2 overall record and breaking virtually every program single-season record for team or individual stats under the direction of second-year head coach
Dave LaBaff. The Colonels ended the season on a 12-game unbeaten streak including 11 wins. Wilkes posted a 12-6-2 record in the UCHC, finishing with 38 points in the standings which was tied with Arcadia for fourth. The Knights earned the No. 4 seed with the tiebreaker of more total UCHC wins.
The team outscored their opponents 91-43 this season and were 27.5 percent on the power play (16-for-69) while killing off penalties at a 90.5 percent clip (76-for-84). Wilkes had the better of the faceoff battle on the season winning at a 55.4 percent rate.
First-year forward
Haylee Bouchard (Sioux Lookout, ON) leads Wilkes and the UCHC with 36 points and 1.44 points-per-game. She is tied for second in the league in both goals (17) and assists (19). Fellow first-year forwards
Jordan Ferry (Bohemia, NY) and
Amanda Spreadbury (Suwanee, GA) for tied for eighth in the UCHC with 12 goals. Ferry is second on the team with 23 points as she has added 11 assists and Spreadbury is third on the team with 20 points as she has eight assists. Senior forward
Rachel Morey (Buffalo, WY/) is tied for second on the team with 11 assists and has 14 points along with first-year defender
Tilly Wierdsma (New Hartford, CT).
Graduate student
Abigail Barcless (Hamilton, NJ/) has been a strong presence on the ice during her 18 games as she leads the team with a plus-19 player rating. Wierdsma is second with a plus-18 mark and Ferry is third at plus-15. Wierdsma led the team with 24 blocked shots. Ferry was second in the league with 269 faceoff wins.
Bouchard and Spreadbury lead the Colonels with four power play goals and Bouchard leads the team with three of its eight shorthanded goals. First year forward
Milica Velcek (Novi Sad, Serbia) leads the team and is tied for third in the conference with four game-winning goals.
First-year goaltender
Audrey Milne (London, ON) started 19 of the 25 games and had a 13-4-2 record. Milne ranked fourth in the UCHC with a .946 save percentage and fifth with a 1.39 goals-against-average while making 455 total saves and earning four shutouts.
Wilkes and Arcadia split the season series back in November with the Colonels winning 5-2 on November 17th at the Toyota SportsPlex. The Knights answered back the next day on the Colonels home ice with a 5-3 win.
Arcadia 15-9-0 overall and were 13-7-0 in the UCHC.
The Knights outscored their opponents by a 72-47 margin this season and were strong on the power play, converting at a 33.8 percent clip (24-for-71). Arcadia killed off penalties at an 87.0 percent rate (60-for-69) and won faceoffs 51.1 percent of the time.
Junior Karakwenhawe White and sophomore Haylee Kos led Arcadia with 26 points this season. White had 13 goals and 13 assists while Kos had 12 goals and 14 assists. White also led the team with a plus-13 while Izzy Gershtein was plus-11.
White was tied for the league lead with six power play goals. Arcadia did not score shorthanded this season. Five different players had two game-winning goals for the Knights.
Abi Komrofske led Arcadia with 31 blocked shots and Ariel Williamson led the team with 207 faceoff wins.
Junior goaltender Hannah Bergeron went 10-6-0 in 17 total games this season. She leads the UCHC with a .951 save percentage and is third with a 1.29 goals-against-average. She has made 408 total saves.
The winner will move onto a UCHC Semifinal game on Saturday. In the other three UCHC Quarterfinals, No. 1 seed Nazareth University hosts No. 8 seed King's College, No. 2 seed Utica University hosts No. 7 seed Chatham University, and No. 3 seed Manhattanville College hosts No. 6 seed Alvernia University.
