No. 6 Wilkes Women's Tennis Prepares for Battle with No. 3 Scranton in First Round of Landmark Conference Championships
WILKES-BARRE – The six-seeded Wilkes women's tennis team is set to make the short journey to Clarks Summit, where they will face the three-seeded University of Scranton in the first round of the Landmark Conference Championships at the Birchwood Racquet Club on Tuesday, April 30. The doubles matches will kick off the day's festivities and are scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.

The Colonels earned the six seed after finishing their first season in the Landmark with a 4-5 record in conference play. The squad went 4-9 overall in the 2023-2024 campaign.
Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) and
Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) have led the team through the regular season with 5-8 records in singles matches. Meanwhile,
Zoe Klein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) looks to keep her momentum rolling after going the distance and capturing a win in the number three singles match in the regular season finale against Moravian on Saturday, April 20.
The duo of Greenman and Klein has compiled a 6-6 record in doubles matches this season while Amerise and
Kensington Edmond (Mount Joy, PA/Donegal) went 6-7 in their matches together. Making ten appearances on the court throughout the season,
Ava Vacula (Exeter, PA/Wyoming Area Secondary Center) and
Karlee Yuscavage (Hanover Twp., PA/Hanover Area) put together a 4-6 record.
The Colonels fell to Scranton 8-1 on Tuesday, April 9 in the two teams' only meeting this season. Klein and Greenman edged the Royals duo of Lily Nowak and Daniella Wisniewski 8-7 in the No. 1 doubles match. In the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, Amerise and Edmond along with Vacula and
Kaitlyn O'Neil (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) fell by scores of 8-7 and 8-1 respectively.
In the singles portion of the event, Scranton swept the Colonels.
Dating back to 2009, Wilkes holds a 10-3 record against the Royals and are looking to snap a two-match losing streak.
The winner of Tuesday's first round matchup will go on to face the two-seeded Moravian University in the semifinals on Thursday.
