Wilkes Men's Cross Country Sixth at Misericordia Invitational to Open Season
DALLAS, PA – The Wilkes University men's cross country team opened the 2024 season by placing sixth of 11 teams in a 4k race at the Misericordia Invitational held at Letterkenny Field Friday evening in Dallas, Pa.

The Colonels, under the direction of second-year head coach
Paul VanLuvender, scored 153 points from its five scoring runners which placed them sixth overall in a race that featured 104 total runners from 11 different institutions. Nine schools had at least five runners to compete in the team event.
Aidan Graff (Scranton, PA/Scranton) was impressive in his collegiate debut finishing 15
th overall with a time of 13:00. Fellow first-year
Jack Thompson (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) claimed 22
nd place in his first college race with a time of 13:25.20.
Caleb Edwards (Grahamsville, NY/Tri-Valley Central) finished 27
th with a time of 13:47 while Connor Anascavage (42
nd/ 14:51.20) and
Justin Ashman (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown Area) (47
th/15:46.50) rounded out the Colonel scorers.
Dickinson College took home first place with 25 points including the all five of its scoring runners placing in the top-eight overall in the race. Bryce Ryder of second-place Marywood was the top overall finisher.
The Colonels will head back to Dallas, Pa. to compete at the Cougar Classic on Saturday, September 14.
