Wilkes Women's Tennis Competes at Colonels Doubles Invitational
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team hosted the 2025 Wilkes Doubles Invitational Sunday morning/afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex and Kirby Park courts.
In the morning session, the duo of
Ana Savkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/The Hoosac School) and
Julia Spaeth (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg Area) took their match against King's 6-0 in Pod 1.
Isabella Bopp (Verona, NJ/Verona) and
Wanda Owens (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) were victorious in their match against FDU-Florham 6-2 in Pool 7.
Rebecca Gula (Exeter, PA/Wyoming Area) and
Eva Winters (York, PA/Red Land) grabbed wins in two matches besting Misericordia 6-3 and two independents 6-4.
In the afternoon session, Sackovic/Spaeth went a perfect 3-0 in Pod 3 with wins over Scranton (6-0), Misericordia (6-0) and Moravian (6-4).
Ava Vacula (Exeter, PA/Wyoming Area Secondary Center) and Isabella Schreffler also went 3-0 with wins over King's (6-2), Scranton (6-0) and Misericordia (6-1). Bopp/Owens posted a 6-1 victory over Misericordia and Gula and
Breanna Herdine (Haslet, TX/) won 6-5 (7-5) over Misericordia.
Wilkes wraps up its fall schedule on Wednesday when the Colonels host Division II East Stroudsburg University at 4:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
