Wilkes Women's Wrestling Claims Three Top-Four Finishers at Cougar Classic
DALLAS, PA -- The Wilkes University women's wrestling team saw three wrestlers finish in the top-four at the Cougar Classic hosted by Misericordia University on Saturday afternoon.
Grace Riley (Wood Ridge, NJ/Paramus Catholic) finished in third place at 117-pounds. Riley began the day with a technical fall (10-0) in the quarterfinals before falling in the semifinals by fall (1:06). Riley then rebounded with a 4-2 decision victory in the consolations over teammate
Haylee Robinson (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W Baker) before taking the third place bout with a 13-2 technical fall over Gracie Woodring of York College.
At 138-pounds,
Milly Hughes (Jefferson, GA/Jefferson) took home fourth place. Hughes began the day with a fall in 1:27 before dropping her semifinal bout by technical fall. Hughes wrestled back with her second pin of the day in the consolations before settling for fourth after losing in the third place bout by fall.
Alyssa McIntosh (Easton, PA/Easton Area) was the final top-four finisher for the Colonels taking fourth place at 145-pounds. She went 2-3 on the day including a 9-1 decision in the consolation third round.
Wilkes remains idle until Friday, December 5 when the Colonels travel to Cedar Crest College for a dual match at 6:00 p.m.
