Wilkes Women's Wrestling Takes Third Place at Alvernia Golden Wolves Open
 
READING, PA – The Wilkes University women's wresting team saw six wrestlers finish in the top three as the Colonels finished in third place at the Golden Wolves Open hosted by Alvernia University on Sunday afternoon.
 
Four Colonels earned runner up finishes while two more claimed third place for Wilkes.
 
At 145-pounds, Alyssa McIntosh (Easton, PA/Easton Area) went 3-0 to reach the finals before falling by fall in 4:14. She began the day with a 10-0 technical fall before back-to-back pins in 35 seconds and 2:59 to reach the finals.
 
At 133-pounds, Milly Hughes (Jefferson, GA/Jefferson) won her quarterfinal match by fall in 1:49 and semifinal bout by technical fall 10-0 in 1:44 to reach the finals. There she fell 10-4 in the finals to settle for second place.
 
Gabriela Vasquez (San Antonio, TX/Conerstone Christian Schools) was the third second place finisher for Wilkes taking runner up at 103-pounds, Vasquez won her semifinal match by fall in 42 seconds before dropping a 10-0 technical fall in 1:45 in the finals to Alyssa Sedillo of D'Youville.
 
At 117-punds, Haylee Robinson (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W Baker) earned three straight falls to reach the finals in 38 seconds, 1:34 and 5:58. Robinson then fell in the finals by technical fall 1-0 to Thersa Zeppetelli of Felician University to settle for second place.
 
Kimberlee Hechler (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) took home third place at 160-pounds going 4-1 over the day. After falling by technical fall in her opening match, Hechler went a perfect 4-0 to claim third place including a fall in 36 seconds in the third place bout. She wrestled back with three straight falls to reach the third place match.
 
Grace Riley (Wood Ridge, NJ/Paramus Catholic) was the final top-three place finisher for Wilkes taking third place at 117-pounds, Riley went 3-1 on the day including a fall over Gianna Bonaccorso of Felician in the third place bout in 3:54.
 
 Wilkes will remain idle until Sunday, January 11th when the Colonels compete in the Ursinus Duals at 10:00 a.m. hosted by Ursinus College.
