Merrifield, Lesko Named All-Landmark Conference First Team
 
TOWSON, MD – Wilkes University men's basketball senior Cayden Merrifield (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) and junior Lucas Lesko (Northampton, PA/Northampton) were named 2024-25 All-Landmark Conference First Team, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Merrifield earned his second consecutive all-conference honor after being named to the second team as a junior. He finished second on team in scoring only behind Lesko averaging 15.0 points per-game, good for eighth in the Landmark. He topped the team with 117 assists, 4.3 per-game ranking him second in the Landmark. The hot shooting point-guard also canned a team-best 63 three-pointers, shooting over 40.4 percent from long range on the season.
 
Merrifield scored in double figures 20 times including seven 20+ point games. His season-high came at King's where he scored 30 points and drilled a season-best six threes. He finished his career at Wilkes with 1,221 points, ranking 23rd all-time on the school's scoring list.
 
Lesko also earned his second straight all-conference selection after being named to the second team as a sophomore. Lesko finished as the Landmark leading scorer pouring in 20.5 points per-game. He also was second in the league in rebounding posting 7.7 caroms per-game. He also got it done on the defensive end recording a team-high 34 blocks.
 
He scored in double figures in all but two games, including sixteen games of 20+ points and four with 30+ points. His career-high came in the second game of the year, a thrilling two-point win against Ursinus College in the tip-off tournament championship game, where he poured in 40 points on 13-for-21 shooting and five threes. He finished his junior season with 1,247 career points, sitting 21st on the school's all-time scoring list with one year left to play.
