Five from Wilkes Tennis Named Academic All-District® by College Sports Communicators
WILKES-BARRE – Five student-athletes from the Wilkes University men's and women's tennis teams have been named to the 2024-25 Men's and Women's Academic All-District® Tennis Teams by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.
Nathanial Rathe (Lincoln, NE/Lincoln Southeast),
Jonah Nguyen (Enola, PA/East Pennsboro Area), and
Donovan Zong (Bethlehem, PA/Salisbury Township) represented the men's team, while
Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) and
Kensington Edmond (Mount Joy, PA/Donegal) were selected to the women's team.
To be chosen to the 2024-25 Academic All-District® Team, a student-athlete had to have been at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and have competed in 70% of matches that include team scores.
Rathe competed in all 16 of the Colonels' team score events, earning second team All-Landmark Conference honors, with a 3.79 GPA as a sports management major.
Nguyen and Zong competed in 14 team score events, pairing together for doubles action in 12 of them, with GPAs of 3.64 and 3.61 respectively.
Both Amerise and Edmond competed in all 17 team scoring events for the women's team, with Amerise being named second team All-Landmark this past season. The mathematics major made the team with a 3.79 GPA, while Edmond, an environmental engineering major, recorded a 3.90 GPA.
