Wilkes Softball's Butka Named to NFCA All-Region V Second Team

LOUISVILLE, KY. – Wilkes University softball sophomore Mia Butka (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) has been selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region V Second Team as a utility player, as announced by the organization Friday afternoon.

This is the first All-Region honor of Butka's career, and the third consecutive year for Wilkes with a player named All-Region.

Butka was named All-Landmark First Team as a utility player this season, leading the team with a .370 batting average, 37 hits, and four home runs, all career-highs. Her 12 doubles put her tied for second in the Landmark, while her 1.037 OPS and .630 slugging percentage were both also top ten marks in the conference.

In the circle, Butka finished her sophomore campaign with six wins and a 2.55 ERA, a top ten mark in the Landmark Conference, with 41 strikeouts.

The awards honor student athletes from the Association's 10 regions with selection to one of three teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region.

All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced May 28 online and on-site at the NCAA Division III Finals banquet in Bloomington, Ill.

383 student-athletes from 170 schools make up the All-Region teams. Butka was one of 12 players from the Landmark Conference to receive recognition.
