Four Wilkes Softball Student-Athletes Named Academic All-District® by College Sports Communicators
 
WILKES-BARRE – Four student-athletes from the Wilkes University softball team were named to the 2025 Academic All-District® softball team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), as announced by the organization this afternoon.

Olivia Dougher (Scranton, PA/West Scranton), Mia Butka (Scranton, PA/West Scranton), Kayla Burleson (West Chester, PA/B. Reed Henderson), and Maddy Maloney (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) were all named to the honor. This marks the second consecutive season Dougher has earned Academic All-District® accolades.

To be chosen to the 2025 Academic All-District® Softball Team a student-athlete had to have been at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and must have competed in 90 percent of the institutions games or must have started at least 66 percent of the games. Pitchers must have had at least 17 appearances, or 25 innings pitched. Nominations were limited to a maximum of five student-athletes per school.

Dougher played in 31 games for the Colonels, earning All-Landmark Honorable Mention honors at third base. The middle level education major finished her junior season with a 3.84 GPA.

Butka earned her first Academic All-District® award after a season that saw her named to the All-Landmark First Team and NFCA All-Region V Second Team as a utility player. The Criminology major finished the year with a 3.79 GPA.

Burleson completed her softball career at Wilkes playing in 28 games as the designated player. The pharmacy major completed the year with a GPA of 3.76.

Maloney played 30 games at shortstop in her first season as a Colonel, finishing the school year with a 3.61GPA majoring in sports management.
