Lesko Participates in Brazil Summer Basketball Tour

WILKES-BARRE – Earlier this month, Wilkes men's basketball forward Lucas Lesko (Northampton, PA/Northampton) had the opportunity to participate in USA Sports Tours and Events' Brazil Summer Basketball Tour, where he faced off against teams from the country and played alongside players from other Division III programs.

The tour allowed Lesko to represent the United States and compete against teams from the host nation, including LSB, Botafogo, and the Brazilian Naval team. Joining him were other Division III student athletes from programs like Wisconsin-Whitewater, Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Centre, and more.Lesko Christ the Redeemer

"Traveling to Brazil was an unforgettable experience both on and off the court," Lesko said. "Playing against teams like LSB, Botafogo, and the Brazilian Naval Team challenged me in different ways."

"Sharing this journey with a great group of guys from Wisconsin-Whitewater, Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Centre, Hamline, Dubuque, and Sewanee made it even more special. They were amazing players and even better people."

Away from the basketball court, Lesko visited many well-known landmarks around the city of Rio de Janeiro, including Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, Copacabana Beach, and more.

"Exploring iconic sites like Sugarloaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer, and the Lapa Steps gave me a true taste of Brazilian culture."

Lesko returns to campus after a junior campaign that saw him named to the All-Region 5 Second Team by D3hoops.com, NABC All-District 5 Second Team, All-Landmark First Team, and eclipsed the 1,000-point milestone.

The Colonels kick off the season on Sunday, Nov. 9 as they host Rowan University at 1:30 p.m.
