Wilkes Men's and Women's Tennis Earn ITA All-Academic Team Awards, Nine Players Named Scholar-Athletes
 
GILBERT, AZ – The Wilkes University men's and women's tennis teams have been selected by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for their All-Academic Team awards, with nine individuals earning the ITA Scholar-Athlete award, as announced by the organization Wednesday morning.

Eligible teams for the All-Academic Team award must have a team GPA of 3.2 or above on a 4.0 scale, while student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.5 or above in the previous academic year to be named a Scholar-Athlete.

The men's team made the list with a combined 3.2 GPA, while the women achieved a 3.42 GPA to earn the award.

Donovan Zong (Bethlehem, PA/Salisbury Township), Nathanial Rathe (Lincoln, NE/Lincoln Southeast), and Jonah Nguyen (Enola, PA/East Pennsboro Area) represented the men's team as Scholar-Athletes, while Isabel Schreffler (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West), Gianna Pacilio (Franklinville, NJ), Sydney Farmer (Lacey Township, NJ/Lacey Township), Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer), Kensington Edmond (Mount Joy, PA/Donegal), and Nina Hudakova represented the women's team.

The trio of Zong, Rathe, and Nguyen were also named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team and Landmark Academic Honor Roll this spring, boasting 3.5, 3.75, and 3.86 GPAs respectively this past year.

Amerise and Edmond were also named to the CSC Academic All-District® Team and Landmark Academic Honor Roll this year, each earning 4.0 GPAs last year.

A senior nursing major, Farmer earned the recognition with a 3.72 GPA.

Schreffler, Pacilio, and Hudakova mark a trio of first-year student-athletes selected to the award, earning a 3.55, 3.65, and 4.0 GPAs respectively.

135 men's tennis programs earned the All-Academic Team award, with 1,115 student-athletes earning ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. On the women's side, 165 programs earned the All-Academic Team award, with 1,269 student-athletes selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
