Wilkes Women's Tennis Opens 2025 Fall Season with One Singles Title, One Doubles Crown at King's Invitational
 
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team opened its 2025 fall season capturing one singles title and one doubles crown at the King's College Invitational held at the Kirby Park courts and Ralston Athletic Complex courts on Sunday afternoon.
 
Ana Savkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/The Hoosac School) made her collegiate debut grand when she captured the No. 1 singles title winning the tournament by cruising through three matches while dropping just three games throughout. She claimed the crown with a 6-1, 6-0 straight set victory over Misericordia's Erin Cridge in the finals.
 
Two other Colonels reached the finals as Isabella Bopp (Verona, NJ/Verona) went 2-1 on the day at No. 6 falling to Leila O'Brien of Rutgers-Camden in the final match 6-3, 6-4. At No. 7 singles, Ava Vacula (Exeter, PA/Wyoming Area Secondary Center) finished 2-1 dropping a 6-2, 6-1 decision to a player from Lebanon Valley.
 
Isabel Schreffler (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) and Julia Spaeth (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg Area) each fell in the semifinal round of No. 4 and No. 2 respectively.
 
In double play, Savkokic and Spaeth went a perfect 3-0 on the day at No. 1 pairs taking the title with a 6-3 victory over Falzone/Crawford of Scranton.
 
Wilkes is back in action on Friday, September 19 when the Colonels host Bryn Mawr College for a dual match at 3:30p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
