Wilkes Basketball Prepares for Landmark Action Against Drew University
 
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes men's and women's basketball teams will take on Drew University this Wednesday, with the men traveling to Madison, N.J. to face the Rangers, while the women host Drew at the Marts Center. Both games are scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.

Men's Preview
The Navy and Gold enter the matchup with an 8-5 overall record and a 3-3 mark in conference play following a dominant 87-69 victory over Elizabethtown last Saturday. After a slow start in the first half, the Colonels' offense found its rhythm and built a double-digit lead heading into the break. Wilkes pulled away in the second half, shooting 57% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc to secure its third conference win.

Lucas Lesko (Northampton, PA/Northampton) paced the Colonels with 21 points, shooting 6-12 from the field and 100 percent from the free-throw line, and was one of four Wilkes players to score in double figures. Colin Ackerman (Manasquan, NJ/Wall Township) followed with a career-high 20 points, connecting on over 60% of his shots from both the field and beyond the arc, while Eli Becker (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) added 18 points and Jack Argento (Hershey, PA/Hershey) chipped in 17. Lesko and Becker also controlled the glass, combining for 17 rebounds in the victory.

The Wilkes starting five continues to stand out, with each player averaging at least 11 points per game, and many finding themselves among the top in other conference categories. Lesko (8.0), Becker (6.3), and Argento (6.1) all sit in the top 10 in rebounds per game, while Becker ranks second in the conference in field goal percentage (58.1). Additionally, Ackerman stands fifth in the Landmark in assists per game, averaging 4.1.

The team remains sixth in the conference for scoring (76.3) and second in total rebounding (40.5), but has risen to fourth in team field goal percentage (45.5%) and third in opponent field goal percentage (41.6).

Drew comes into the matchup at 10-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play after a 78-70 setback to Catholic on Sunday. The Rangers cut an 11-point second-half deficit to four, but Catholic closed out the win by going 13-16 from the foul line late in the game.

The Rangers are led by junior guard Eli Yusavage who averages 18.1 PPG and 2.9 assists per game, placing him sixth in the Landmark for scoring. In Sunday's matchup against the Cardinals, Yusavage netted 22 points shooting 6-17 in the field and 33% from beyond the arc. 

Behind Yusavage, Andre De Los Reyes (15.2) and Charlie Thornton (10.2) make up the top three scorers for Drew, both shooting over field percentage over 40. David Musial controls the glass for the Rangers averaging 8.2 RPG, placing him second in the Landmark for rebounds.

As a team, Drew sits second best in the Landmark for scoring (87.3), fifth in field goal percentage (44.6), ninth in opponent field goal percentage, first in total rebound (42.1), and fourth in turnover margin (2.15). 

Women's Preview
Wilkes enters this game with a 3-10 overall record and 0-6 in conference play after a 59-39 loss to Elizabethtown on Saturday. The Colonels hung with the Blue Jays going into the half tied at 16, but Elizabethtown pulled away in the end to secure the win.

Yamirelis Matos (Springfield, MA/Chicopee) was the only double-digit scorer with 14 points on 5-15 shooting, leading the team with two assists.

Matos remains the team's leading scorer, averaging 13.8 PPG and ranking fourth in the Landmark for scoring, with Maliyah Warren (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) close behind at 12.8 points per game. Both players also share the team lead in rebounding at 6.5 rebounds per game, ranking among the Landmark Conference's top 10 rebounders. Warren also leads the team in blocked shots (18), placing her second in the conference. 

Wilkes ranks ninth in the Landmark for scoring (53.3 PPG), second in opponent field goal percentage (33.2%), fourth in total rebounds (42.1), and third in blocked shots (4).

The Rangers enter the game with an 8-5 overall record and 3-3 in conference following their loss to Catholic University on Saturday. Falling early in the first quarter, the Rangers were able to cut the deficit to just six points going into the break, but couldn't keep pace with the Cardinals and fell to Catholic 66-53.

Junior guards Amy Rachilla and Olivia Aliotta lead Drew in scoring at 8.8 PPG each, with Rachilla shooting 44.6% from the field and ranking top 10 in the Landmark in assists (3.0), while Aliotta shoots 39.8% and tops the team in rebounding at 7.0 per game, also earning a top-10 conference ranking.

As a team, Drew ranks fifth in the conference in scoring offense (63.5 PPG), field goal percentage (38.5%), and team rebounds (40.3), fourth in three-point percentage (30.4%), and third in turnover margin (2.85).
