WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes men's and women's basketball teams continue Landmark Conference play as both teams travel to Goucher College to take on the Gophers. The men will open the action at 2:00 p.m. with the women following at 4:00 p.m.

Men's Preview
Wilkes fell to 8-6 overall and 3-4 in conference play following a 98-87 loss to Drew University on Wednesday. The Colonels jumped out early, but Drew responded with a 15-3 first-half run to take a 52-42 lead into the break. Wilkes cut the deficit to five in the final minutes, but the Rangers closed out the game with a 6-0 run to secure the win.
The Wilkes starters were paced by
Eli Becker (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra), who finished with a team-high 25 points on 10-16 shooting while grabbing nine boards, as
Lucas Lesko (Northampton, PA/Northampton) followed with 20 points on efficient shooting from the field, beyond the arc, and a perfect 4-4 effort at the foul line.
Jack Argento (Hershey, PA/Hershey) and
Colin Ackerman (Manasquan, NJ/Wall Township) each contributed 14 points, while
Daniel Santaniello (Roaring Brook Twp., PA/Scranton Prep) added 12, as all five starters reached double figures for the Colonels.
As a team, Wilkes ranks sixth in the conference in scoring, averaging 77.1 points per game, while also sitting fourth in the Landmark in both team field goal percentage (45.7%) and opponent field goal percentage (42.2%). The Colonels are also strong on the glass, ranking second in the conference in rebounding at 40.9 rebounds per game.
Individually,
Lucas Lesko (Northampton, PA/Northampton) (15.6),
Daniel Santaniello (Roaring Brook Twp., PA/Scranton Prep) (15.0), and
Eli Becker (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) (14.5) all rank among the conference's top 20 scorers. Becker also sits third in the Landmark in field goal percentage at 58.6 percent, with
Jack Argento (Hershey, PA/Hershey) ranking 10th at 49.6 percent, while Lesko is third in the conference in rebounding at 7.7 rebounds per game.
Goucher enters the matchup at 4-10 overall and 1-6 in conference play after a 77-72 loss to Moravian on Wednesday. The Gophers stayed competitive throughout, cutting Moravian's lead to six in the final minute, but could not overcome the Greyhounds' late scoring and free-throw advantage.
Junior guard Darnell Morris Jr. leads the Gophers' offense, averaging 14.0 points per game, with fellow junior Liech Kong right behind at 11.1 PPG. Jadyss Fifer (9.3), Brian Griffin (8.6), and Avree Harris (6.1) round out Goucher's top scoring threats. On the glass, Kong anchors the team with 6.0 rebounds per game, while Morris (4.9) and Fifer (4.7) provide strong support.
As a team, the Gophers are ranked third in the Landmark for scoring defense (71.1), fourth for team three-point percentage (33.9%), and third for total rebounds (39.1).
Women's Preview
The Colonels enter into this matchup with a 3-11 overall record and 0-7 Landmark record after their 77-42 defeat against Drew University on Wednesday. Wilkes jumped out to an early lead, but the Rangers responded with a 10-0 run to take control and never looked back. The Colonels struggled to score in the second quarter, allowing the Rangers to extend their advantage. Despite a more competitive third quarter, Wilkes couldn't close the gap and fell 72-44.
Anya Richet (Plymouth, PA/Wyoming Valley West) led the Colonels off the bench with 13 points and tied for the team lead in rebounds alongside
Reagan Holden (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Wilkes-Barre Area) and
Maliyah Warren (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) with six for the night.
Yamirelis Matos (Springfield, MA/Chicopee) and Warren pace the Colonels offensively, averaging 12.9 and 12.2 PPG respectively, with both ranking among the top 10 scorers in the Landmark Conference. Warren also leads the team on the glass with 6.4 RPG, while Matos follows closely at 6.2, earning both players a spot in the top 20 for rebounding in the conference.
As a team, Wilkes ranks tenth in the Landmark for scoring (52.6), third in opponent field goal percentage (33.3%), and second in total rebounds (41.9).
Goucher College enters the game with a 5-9 overall record and 1-6 Landmark Conference record after a 68-57 loss to Moravian on Wednesday. The Gophers kept the game close early, but Moravian used a strong second-quarter run to take control heading into halftime. Despite Goucher's efforts in the second half, the Greyhounds maintained their lead and secured a 68–57 victory.
Sophomore guard Aniya McDaniel leads Goucher's offense averaging 11.8 PPG, putting her ninth in the Landmark in scoring. Nia Edens joins her in double-digit scoring averaging 10.8 PPG while leading the team in assists per game (2.2) and steals per game (2.8), with the latter being the second-best mark in the conference. Two Gophers sit top five in the conference in rebounds, first-year Logan Davis (8.1 RPG) and sophomore Sanai Knox (8.0 RPG).
As a team, Goucher sits eighth in scoring offense (52.9) and sixth in scoring defense (60.8), and holds their opponents to a three-point field goal percentage of .247, the second-best mark in the conference.
