Wilkes Basketball Prepares for Final Regular Season Game Against Goucher
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams are set to pack the Marts Center this Saturday, February 21, as they host the Gophers in their final regular-season contest.
The men will tip off the doubleheader at 2:00 p.m., with the women's match up to follow at 4:00 p.m.

Men's Preview
Wilkes enters the game at 15-9 overall and 10-7 in Landmark Conference play following a thrilling 77-74 win over Scranton on Wednesday night. In a contest that came down to the final possessions, senior forward
Lucas Lesko (Northampton, PA/Northampton) scored the final two baskets to lift the Colonels past the Royals.
Lesko finished with 24 points on 11-of-18 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds, while
Jack Argento (Hershey, PA/Hershey) added 23 points, shooting an efficient 11-of-12 from the field with four boards. All five Wilkes starters continue to average double figures, with four ranking among the top 20 scorers in the conference. Lesko leads the team at 18.6 PPG and ranks third in rebounding (7.6).
Eli Becker (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) (.563) and Argento (.547) sit third and fifth in the Landmark in field goal percentage, and
Colin Ackerman (Manasquan, NJ/Wall Township) ranks fifth in assists at 4.3 per game.
As a team, the Colonels rank fifth in scoring offense (77.1), second in field goal percentage (.470), second in free throw percentage (.746), and third in rebounding (38.1).
Goucher enters the matchup at 5-19 overall and 2-15 in Landmark Conference play following an 87-59 loss to Susquehanna on Wednesday night. The Gophers scored first, but Susquehanna responded quickly and used a decisive run to take control, and Goucher was unable to recover.
Three starters average double figures in scoring, led by Liech Kong (12.6 PPG), Darnell Morris Jr. (12.0), and Jadyss Fifer (11.8). Kong also leads the team on the glass with 6.7 rebounds per game, ranking seventh in the conference. Goucher places two players among the top 15 in shooting categories, with Kong ranking 14th in field goal percentage (.491) and Fifer 12th in three-point percentage (.356).
As a team, the Gophers rank 10th in scoring offense (65.7), second in opponent field goal percentage (.423), sixth in three-point percentage (.326), and fifth in rebounding (37.2).
Women's Preview
Wilkes enters the game at 5-19 overall and 2-15 in Landmark Conference play following a loss to No. 2 Scranton on Wednesday night. The Royals took control early in the first quarter, and despite Wilkes' efforts to chip away at the deficit, Scranton pulled away for a 93-42 victory.
Maliyah Warren (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) and
Yamirelis Matos (Springfield, MA/Chicopee) continue to pace the Colonels offensively, averaging 12.2 and 11.3 points per game, respectively, while each adds 5.3 rebounds per contest.
Anya Richet (Plymouth, PA/Wyoming Valley West) anchors the glass with 5.8 rebounds per game and ranks third on the team in scoring at 5.8 points per game.
Warren ranks eighth in the conference in scoring, Matos sits 11th, and Richet also holds the 11th spot in rebounding.
As a team, Wilkes ranks sixth in scoring defense (64.8), ninth in field goal percentage (.311), seventh in rebounding, and 10th in scoring offense (51.1).

Sophomores Aniya McDaniel and Nia Edens lead the Gophers offensively, averaging 12.2 and 11.3 points per game, respectively, with both ranking among the top 10 scorers in the conference. Logan Davis anchors the boards at 7.9 rebounds per game, placing fourth in the Landmark. Edens also ranks second in the conference in steals at 2.8 per game.
As a team, Goucher ranks eighth in the conference in scoring offense (53.6 points per game), tenth in field goal percentage (.310), eighth in three-point percentage (.387), and eighth in total rebounding at 38.3 per game.
