Savkovic Named Landmark Athlete of the Week for the Fourth Time
TOWSON, Md. - Wilkes women's tennis first year Ana Savkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/The Hoosac School) was named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Savkovic remains undefeated in singles play this season (18-0) thanks to three great outings against Drew, Juniata, and Susquehanna this past week.Â
In the #1 singles spot, she defeated Drew's Riley Roesel (6-0, 6-0), then Juniata's Medina Yessenaliyeva (6-4, 6-0), and then Susquehanna's Alexa Wanamaker (6-0, 6-1). She also won all three of her doubles matches in the #1 spot alongside Julia Spaeth (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg Area).
Thanks to her brilliance on the court, the Colonels went 2-1 in those matches to clinch a spot in the Landmark Conference Tournament for the first time under head coach Scott Veith.Â
Savkovic and the Colonels finish off conference play tomorrow, April 22, at home against Lycoming College at 3 p.m.
