Wilkes Field Hockey Selected Seventh in Landmark Preseason Coaches' Poll

TOWSON, Md. – The Wilkes University field hockey team was picked to finish seventh in the 2026 Landmark Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference Tuesday.


Last season, the Colonels finished 10-11 overall and 4-5 in Landmark play, reaching the Landmark semifinals for the first time in program history. Coach Ashley Irwin returns for her fourth season at Wilkes in 2026.

Scranton, the defending champion, was selected to finish first with 80 points, including eight first place votes. Susquehanna was picked second with 72 points and one first place vote, and Elizabethtown was projected to finish third with 64 points and received one first place vote. Drew (53 points) and Catholic (43 points) round out the top five. 

Lycoming was selected sixth with 39 points, Wilkes finished seventh with 36 points, Moravian in eighth with 31 points, Goucher finished ninth with 23 points, and Juniata in tenth with nine points.

The Colonels open the 2026 season in New Jersey at Kean University on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m. Their home opener is on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 1:00 p.m. against Montclair State at Schmidt Stadium, while Landmark play commences on Saturday, Sept. 26 in Wilkes-Barre against Elizabethtown.
