CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS COMPETE IN MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR FIRST TIME IN OVER TWO DECADES

Men finish 12th overall

LANCASTER – The men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships for the first time in over two decades after resurrecting a program that had been dormant during that time.  
           
The men's team finished 12th with 347 points just 14 behind Eastern, who finished 11thTom Larrabee (Wyalusing, Pa./Wyalusing) was the first to cross the line for the Colonels, finishing 79th overall with a time of 32:52.30 in the eight kilometer race. Teammate Michael Griesemer (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphlin) finished two spots behind in 81st place with a time of 33:01.24, while Phat Nguyen (Hanover Township, Pa./Bishop Hoban) was 85th with a time of 33:13.84. 
           
Alexander Caicendo and Andrew Julian (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) rounded out the top-five finishers for Wilkes, crossing the line in 102nd and 108th place respectively. 
           
Messiah College won the event with 27 total points and had the top two individual finishers. Elizabethtown was second with 36 points, while DeSales was a distant third with 88 points. 
           
On the women's side, Michelle Wakeley (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) finished 27th overall, crossing the finish line with a time of 25:45.62 in the six kilometer race, while Amelia Farnham (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) was right behind her, finishing 32nd with a time of 26:09.86. 
           
The Lady Colonels only had four runners competing, therefore did not have enough to qualify for team scoring. Christina Yesu (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) and Brittany Maloney (Stockholm, N.J./Vernon Township) rounded out the women's squad, finishing 64th and 98th respectively. 
           
Elizabethtown won the team title with 43 points while Messiah College was second with 49 and had the top individual finisher in Jennifer Kooser, who crossed the tape with a time of 22:40.87.
