DeSales had 12 players score at least one point as the No. 15 Bulldogs cruised to a 69-39 win over Wilkes University. The loss moved the Lady Colonels to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in Freedom Conference play.
LeighAnn Burke and Kim Rarick combined for 30 of DeSales' points, while Caitlin Miller had seven points while pulling down 10 rebounds. Shaina Dymond had 11 rebounds in the game as the Bulldogs dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Lady Colonels 59-37.
Wilkes shot just 22.4 percent from the game, including 18.2 percent in the second half and turned the ball over 23 times that resulted in 26 points for DeSales.
Sam Lynam (Spinnerstown/Quakertown) scored a team-high 11 points, knocking down four of the team's 11 field goals and had one of the Lady Colonels two three-pointers on the day.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 10-2 lead with 14:23 to go in the first after Rarick converted a layup on a pass from Burke. They would eventually extend their lead to 25-8 thanks to a pair of free throws by Cherelle Simmons before the Lady Colonels pulled within nine (29-20) after a 12-4 run with 3:31 to go in the first half. It would be the closest Wilkes would come as DeSales pulled away and closed out the half with an 11-2 run to lead 40-22 at the break.
It would take over five minutes for the Lady Colonels to score their first points of the second half and by that time the Bulldogs led 48-24 with 14:36 to go in the game. Wilkes was unable to pull any closer the rest of the way as DeSales improved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in Freedom Conference play.
Mackensey O'Hara (Otego, N.Y./Unatego) had a game-high four blocks and pulled down three rebounds, while
Allison Horn (New Tripoli, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) and
Samantha Simcox (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) had six points for the Lady Colonels.
Wilkes will be back in action Monday night when it hosts Immaculata for a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m. in the Marts Center.
