Box Score
It took over three minutes for the Lady Colonels to score their first points of the game and nearly 12 minutes to hit double-digits, but finished strong as Wilkes took a 65-46 win over Immaculata.
The Lady Colonels capitalized on 24 Mighty Mac turnovers that resulted in 18 points and held Immaculata to 30.2 percent shooting from the field to improve to 6-4 on the year.
Eleven players scored at least one point for the Lady Colonels including a game-high 15 from
Sam Lynam (Spinnerstown/Quakertown), who was 6-of-13 from the field and 3-of-8 from behind the three-point line.
Chelsey Gosse (Allentown, Pa./Dieruff) tied a season-high with 14 rebounds while putting up eight points to go along with two assists, two steals and two blocks.
Like the Lady Colonels, Immaculata had trouble hitting from the outside. It would take over six minutes before Dominique Murray gave the Mighty Macs their first score of the game when she made a layup with 13:56 to go in the first. Her bucket would be the start of a 5-0 run giving them a 7-3 lead.
Whitney Connolly (Liberty, PA/Liberty), who finished with a season-high five points, gave the Lady Colonels the lead for good when she hit an 18-footer from the left side with 6:39 to play before the break. Her bucket ignited a 14-4 run to close the half, giving Wilkes a 29-18 halftime advantage.
The Mighty Macs pulled within six (31-25) with 16:42 to go when Murray, who finished with a team-high 15 points, converted a layup and made the free throw attempt for a three-point play. Over the next six minutes Immaculata scored just four points and by that time the Lady Colonels led 49-29 with 10:34 to play. During that span,
Mackensey O'Hara (Otego, N.Y./Unatego) scored eight of her nine points to fuel the 18-4 run.
Immaculata never recovered from the scoring drought as the Lady Colonels held at least a 16-point advantage the rest of the way. For the second-straight game, O'Hara blocked at least two shots and also dished out two assists while picking up two steals on the night.
Wilkes has now won three of its last four games and will return to action Wednesday when it heads to Manhattanville for a 6 p.m. Freedom Conference matchup.
