The Wilkes University women's soccer team defeated Delaware Valley on Sunday, defeating the Aggies 5-0, the second consecutive 5-0 victory for the Lady Colonels.
The Lady Colonels scored their first goal in the 13th minute when
Taryn Hallowell (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere) found
Julissa Reed (Coal Township, Pa./Shamokin) for the team-high seventh goal of the season. Seven minutes later
Jenna Sargent (Stroudsburg/Pocono Mountain East) scored, and in the 26th minute Hallowell passed out another assist to
Megan Clementson (Frederick, MD/Tuscarora) to give Wilkes a comfortable 3-0 lead going into the break.
In the second half
Christina Stepansky (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) broke the game open, scoring her first two goals of the season early in the period, both of which were unassisted.
Wilkes fired 25 total shots on the Aggie defense, 18 of which came in the first half. Goalkeeper
Samantha Rohn (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminny) recorded her first victory of the season in the contest, saving three shots on the day.
With the win Wilkes improves to 6-7-3 (2-2-2), and will take their win streak into Cortland, N.Y. when they play Cortland on Tuesday, Oct. 27. That game will begin at 4:00 p.m.
