The Wilkes University women's basketball team took a short drive up highway 81 on Tuesday to challenge the Pacers of Marywood University. Marywood came into the game with a 2-0 record, and the Lady Colonels gave all they had to give the Pacers their first loss of the season, but fell short, falling 68-63.
In the first period each team would jockey for the lead, and at the break the score was tied at 33 points a piece. The Lady Colonels shot just under 45% for the period, and hit two three-pointers, while holding the Pacers to just 35% from the field.
In the second half neither team could take a commanding lead, but Marywood retained its lead when it counted, outscoring the Lady Colonels by five in the half and winning by a score of 68-63. Wilkes shot 35% in the half and hit on only one of its five three-point attempts.
The Lady Colonels were led by sophomore
Lindsey Gosse (Allentown, Pa./Allen), who recorded her first double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Sam Lynam chipped in 15 points of her own, while
