The Colonel baseball team pounded out 21 hits while the pitching staff held Keuka to just four hits in each game as Wilkes swept a double header, winning the first game 7-2 before winning the night cap 9-0.

Wilkes has now won eight-straight and has not lost a game since March 6 in Myrtle Beach. The Colonels are getting offensive production from just about everyone in the lineup as seven different players picked up a hit in the first game and six in the second.

Joel Watson (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale), Al Clocker (Swoyersville/Wyoming Valley West) and Eric Wetzel (New Berlin, N.J./Mifflinburg) each picked up two hits in the first game, while Shane Keister (Middleburg, Pa./Midd-West) went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI. Justin Huff (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) picked up his first win of the season after tossing six innings, giving up two runs off three hits while striking out two.

The Storm got on the board first in the top of the first inning with a two-run blast by Ted Black over the right field fence scoring Nick Ventura, who reached on a double down the left line. It would be the only runs they would score the rest of the way.

The Colonels answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame off four doubles. Mike McAndrew (Avoca, Pa./Pittston Area) led off the inning with a double to left center before scoring on a double by Andrew Garofoli (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle). One batter later, Clocker followed with a double to left to plate Garofoli. John Florance (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Forks) would later drive in Clocker with a double to left. All but four of the Colonels hits were doubles.

Wilkes would add another run in the bottom of the second when Matt Ruch (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer ) doubled in Wetzel, who singled through the right side.

A three run third was more than enough for Huff, who improved to 1-2 on the year.

In the second game, Wilkes starter Ryan Fetterman (Endicott, NY/Maine Endwell ) pitched a complete game giving up four hits while striking out nine in the third shutout of the season for the Colonels.

Ruch was the bulk of the offense for Wilkes, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and five runs batted in. He hit two home runs on the day, including an inside the park grand slam to cap off a five run sixth inning.

Wilkes scored a run in the second inning on an RBI single by Trevin Jaggars (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) before tallying two more in the third inning. Jaggars was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
Randy Dengler (Ashland, Pa./Tri-Valley ), who also homered in the game, hit an RBI single through the left side in the fifth to score Ruch.

The sixth inning saw the Colonels pound out four more hits including Ruch's homer over the head of Alex Pauquette in center. The ball was hit so far that Pauquette had to run around a tree that is more than 450 feet from home plate to field the ball.

The Colonels now sit at 11-4 on the year and will take on Misericordia in Dallas in the Freedom Conference opener on Tuesday.
