Trevin Jaggars (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) picked up a game-high three hits, including a three-run homer, and drove in four runs to lead Wilkes to a 7-1 win over Baptist Bible.
Jaggars' blast, which was his first of the season, easily cleared the left field fence in the bottom of the third, giving the Colonels a 6-0 lead. The Colonels finished with 10 hits on the day, two of which were for extra bases.
Wilkes also took advantage of five errors by the Defenders, including two throwing miscues by starter Eric Teysen that resulted in two runs for the Colonels in the bottom of the second.
Jeremy Watson (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) led off the inning with a single through the right side for one of his two hits on the day. He would steal second before
Geoff Miller (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) hit a slow roller back to Teysen, who threw the ball over the head of first baseman Timothy Radcliff. The error put Miller on second and allowed Watson to score. Jaggars would later single up the middle plating Miller for his first hit and RBI of the day.
Eric Wetzel (New Berlin, N.J./Mifflinburg) followed with a slow comebacker similar to Miller's which Teysen threw away allowing Jaggars to score.
Already leading 6-0, the Colonels would strike again in the fifth when a
Matt Ruch (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer ) pop up was dropped by Radcliff at first, allowing Jaggars, who hit a one-out infield single, to score from second.
Six different pitchers were used with
Al Clocker (Swoyersville/Wyoming Valley West),
Mark Siebel (Rumson, NJ/Rumson Fair Haven) and
Will Sisca (Katonah, NY/Somers) pitching two innings each, while
