The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team saw their playoff hopes come to an end on Wednesday afternoon as they fell 22-8 to Lycoming College in MAC action.

The Lady Colonels, who needed to win their last two games and get some help in order to make the postseason, are now 9-7 overall and drop to 4-6 in conference play. With the win, the Warriors clinch a playoff spot and improve to 9-7 on the year and 7-3 in the MAC.

Megan McIntyre opened up the scoring for Lycoming with 24:44 remaining in the first half to take the early lead, but it was quickly answer by Kat Edwards (Windsor, Conn./Windsor) just 35 seconds later to even the count at 1-1. However, the Warriors would score eight out of the next nine goals of the half to take a 9-2 lead. Wilkes scored two-straight to end the half at a 9-4 count in Lycoming's favor.

The Warriors would not slow down in the second half, going on a 10-2 run in the opening 20 minutes of the second frame to put the game out of reach at 19-6, before the final 22-8 margin was posted.

For the game, McIntyre lead all scorers with nine points on three goals and six assists. Justine Titko added five scores for Lycoming, while Bri Robertson and Christi Karr tallied four scores each. Sammi Jo Bell and Amanda Baker both recorded hat-tricks as well to round out the Warrior scoring. Brittany Brian earned the win by making five saves in goal.

Brittney Hodnik (Binghamton, N.Y./Binghamton) paced Wilkes with four scores and one assist on the afternoon, which puts her over the 100-point plateau for the year, marking just the second time in school history a player has surpassed the mark in a single season. Melissa Polchinski (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) added two scores and two helpers while Edwards found the back of the net twice.  Allie Zukunft (Hamden, Conn./The Gunnery) suffered the loss but stopped 12 shots before Cassie Cronin (Manchester, NH/Manchester Memorial) relieved her and made seven saves of her own.

The Lady Colonels will conclude their season on Saturday when they play host to Widener at 1 p.m. The game will also be a Pink Day in support of breast cancer research.
