The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team saw their record-breaking season come to a close on Saturday afternoon at Ralston Field on a low note, falling to MAC foe Widener 19-7.

The Lady Colonels conclude their season with a 9-8 overall record and 4-7 mark in league play, both of which set new school benchmarks for the club. The Pride see their season end at 8-9 overall and 4-7 in the MAC as well.

Widener took control of the contest just 53 seconds into the game as Jackie Elliot scored her first of seven goals on the afternoon. Wilkes would quickly answer less than two minutes later when Kat Edwards (Windsor, Conn./Windsor) scored off of a feed from Brittney Hodnik (Binghamton, N.Y./Binghamton). However, the Pride would score the next six goals to take the lead for good. The teams would settle on an 11-4 halftime margin in favor of Widener.

The Pride again would start off the half hot, scoring six of the first seven second half goals to put the game out of reach at 17-5. Each team would trade goals over the final ten minutes of the game to post the final 19-7 margin.

Elliot led all scorers with eight points on seven goals and one assist. Grace Cavanaugh added four goals and two assists, while Emily Solt tallied three scores and one assist to pace Widener. Calina Walz, Mellany Broomall, Jen Harnden, Anna Geeter, and Emily Shumaker each added a goal of their own for the Pride, while Linda Salcedo earned the win making nine saves, with Shelley O'Neill relieving her to stop two shots as well.

On a positive note, Melissa Polchinksi registered her 100th point of the season this afternoon, marking the second Wilkes player in as many games to reach the feat. Hodnik tallied her 100th point on Wednesday.

Polchinski scored her 100th point midway through the first half and would later add two more scores to finish the game with four goals to lead the Lady Colonels. Hodnik added one goal and three assists, while Edwards and Amanda Moyer each scored once. Cassie Cronin (Manchester, NH/Manchester Memorial) suffered the loss in goal making two saves, while Allie Zukunft (Hamden, Conn./The Gunnery) also played between the pipes making four stops.
