Lebanon Valley College shot 43% from the floor and had 12 players score in its 81-42 defeat of Wilkes on Wednesday, the first game for the Lady Colonels in 2010. Wilkes had only one player score over ten points en route to its tenth loss of the season.
Lebanon Valley took control of the game early, building a 24 point lead by the end of the first half. The Lady Colonels shot only 25% from the field in the first period, missing all eight of their three-point attempts.
The second half was more of the same for Wilkes, as missed shots and turnovers allowed the Dutchmen to pull away further, out-scoring the Lady Colonels 41-26 in the half. Wilkes shot just under 30% from the field, and connected on one of seven three-point shots.
The Lady Colonels were led by freshman
Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) with 13 points and six rebounds, while
Lindsey Gosse (Allentown, Pa./Allen) added eight points and five rebounds.
Lebanon Valley out-scored Wilkes 44 to 22 in the paint, and had 29 points off of Lady Colonel turnovers.
With the loss, Wilkes falls to 2-10 on the season, and will look to turn things around when it travels to Purchase, N.Y. to challenge Manhattanville College on Saturday, Jan. 9. That game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
