AT A GLANCE
The Lady Colonels open their 2010-11 season as they host Penn State Hazleton Monday night at the Marts Center. Wilkes has won each of the last two meetings, defeating the Nittany Lions 80-23 last season and 74-62 in the 2008-09 year.
LAST TIME OUT
The Colonels finished the 2009-10 season with a loss to cross-town rival King's, 90-61 in the season finale.
Wilkes went 3-22 during the season, including a win over Hazleton in the season opener.
Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) led the Lady Colonels in scoring with 11.5 ppg, hitting double-figures a team-high 19 times during the season. She was also 2nd on the team with 164 rebounds (6.6 rpg) and flashed her defensive ability as she led Wilkes with 40 steals.
Sam Lynam (Spinnerstown/Quakertown) was 2nd to Kazmerski in scoring with 9.9 ppg, getting a season-high 23 points against PSU Hazleton last year.
Amanda Pawlowski (Nanticoke, PA/Holy Redeemer) was the only Wilkes player to start all 25 games, leading the team in minutes with 28.6 mpg and dishing out 47 assists, 2nd on the squad. She went 37-46 (80.4%) from the foul line and posted 31 steals, including 7 in the season opener.
Whitney Connolly (Liberty, PA/Liberty) was 2nd on the team in minutes played with 27.4 mpg and averaged 5.3 ppg and 3.2 rpg.
Brittany Ely (Montrose/Montrose) started 20 games and averaged 27.0 mpg. A good all-around player, she averaged 4.9 ppg and 4.5 rpg, adding 39 assists and 39 steals.
Lindsey Gosse (Allentown, Pa./Allen) was the main inside threat for the Lady Colonels last year, averaging 9.7 ppg and 8.1 rpg and posting 7 double-doubles. She also led the team in blocks with 45, setting a school record with 9 against PSU Hazleton.
Lyndsay Ellis (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) started 16 games and led the Lady Colonels with 52 assists, adding 39 steals defensively.
WHO'S GONE
The Lady Colonels lose five players from last year's team, including Gosse and Ellis. Also not back are

THE CAPTAINS
The Lady Colonels will be captained by the trio of Sr. G
Brittany Ely (Montrose/Montrose), Sr. G
Erin Schneider (Colchester, CT/Holy Name) and Connolly, the only junior of the group.
Ely brings her all-around game back to the Lady Colonels for her final season, as she has 63 games and 54 starts under her belt. Starting 20 of 25 games a season ago, she was 3rd on the team in minutes with 27.0 mpg.
Schneider, the 2nd senior captain, is also one of the most experienced Lady Colonels. Playing in 61 career games, she has logged nearly 1,000 minutes on the court for Wilkes.
The lone junior for the Lady Colonels, Connolly has played in 49 games at Wilkes, getting 23 starts a season ago, averaging 27.4 mpg.
THE SCORER
Kazmerski led the Lady Colonels in scoring as a freshman last year, scoring 11.5 ppg in her 26.6 mpg of action. Scoring 14 points in just 15 minutes off the bench against Hazleton. She hit double figures 18 more times during the season, including 18 points in her first start against Misericordia and a season-high 22 at Baptist Bible.
With a 40.7 FG%, Kazmerski went 118-290 from the floor and was also 2nd on the team with 6.6 rpg, including 57 offensive boards (2.3 pg).
ALL-AROUND
One of the most versitile players for the Lady Colonels, Ely will look to be a major contributor on both ends of the floor again this season.
3rd on the team with 27.0 mpg and 4.5 rpg, Ely scored 4.9 ppg and had 39 assists and 39 steals. The senior also went 30-43 (69.8%) from the foul line. She scored in double figures four times and had back-to-back games of 10 boards, including a double-double (13 pts, 10 rebs) in 40 minutes against Del Val.
Ely has 120 career assists, including a team-high 63 as a sophomore in 2008-09.
RUNNING THE POINT
A 25-game starter as a freshman last year, Pawlowski returns to the point for the Lady Colonels this year. In her first collegiate game, she scored 6 points, dished out 4 assists and had a season-high 7 steals in 23 minutes in the win over PSU Hazleton.
Pawlowski led Wilkes in assists nine times last season, getting at least 1 in every game. She also added 31 steals, 4th on the team, including 10 games of at least 2 swipes.
FROM THE FOUL LINE
Lynam and Pawlowski were 1st and 2nd on the team in terms of free throw percentage last year, as they combined to hit 81.8% from the charity stripe.
With an 83.9 FT%, Lynam went 26-31 in her 16 games, including a 5-5 game against Cedar Crest. Pawlowski finished the season 37-46 (80.4%), going 11-13 in her final four games.
As a team, the Lady Colonels had a 60.6 FT% (271-447) last year, going 18-22 in the win over Baptist Bible.
GUARD EXPERIENCE
Adding to their experience at the guard spot is Lynam, a veteran of 56 career games at Wilkes. She's finished in the top three on the team in scoring each year on campus, leading the team with 11.3 ppg as a sophomore in 2008-09.
Hitting double figures 31 times in her career, she scored a career-high 33 points on 11-23 shooting in 31 m inutes against Arcadia as a sophomore and then later dropped 22 points on 8-13 FGs against Keystone.
In her three season opening games, Lynam averages 23.0 ppg with a 49.1 FG% (26-53) in 24.3 mpg.
