The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team hosted Middle Atlantic foe Messiah on Wednesday, ultimately falling to the Falcons by a score of 18-0.
Messiah was the first to score in the match, shooting two early goals past the Lady Colonel defense and forcing a Wilkes timeout. The Falcons continued to score as the half progressed, extending their lead to 12-0 before the halftime buzzer sounded.
Wilkes wasn't able to get a shot on goal in the half, as Messiah possessed the ball for most of the period.
In the second half it was more of the same from Messiah, not allowing Wilkes to get into a scoring position and controlling possession. The Falcons eventually pushed the lead to 18-0, which ended up being the final score.
Wilkes had two shots on goal in the contest, but was never able to pierce the Falcon defense for a score.
The Lady Colonels will have another chance for their first victory when they head to Allentown, Pa. to take on Cedar Crest on Thursday, April 15. That game will begin at 4:00 p.m.
