Box Score

WILKES-BARRE – Kaitlyn Bevans (Beaver Meadows, Hazleton) scored an early second half goal for Wilkes on Tuesday, but one score wasn't enough to bring the Lady Colonels back from a 2-0 first period deficit. After winning four consecutive games, Wilkes fell to William Paterson 2-1 after 70 minutes of field hockey.

In the first period Wilkes played solid defense for nearly the entire half. Near the end of the period the Pioneers rattled off two scores in three minutes, giving them a 2-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, Wilkes answered off of a penalty corner when Gina Elmy (Wilkes-Barre, G.A.R) found Bevans who blasted a shot through the Pioneer defense. As the game surged on, Wilkes had other opportunities to score, but couldn't finish off another shot, falling 2-1.

Wilkes had nine shots, while the Pioneers rattled off 18 shots of their own. Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, Dallas) saved eight shots on the day, but couldn't pick up the victory.

The Lady Colonels will look to rebound from this loss when they host Eastern on Saturday, Sept. 25. That game will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
