WILKES WOMEN'S BASKETBALL STORMS PAST PSU HAZLETON 83-30 IN SEASON DEBUT

HAZLETON, PA – The Wilkes University women's basketball team jumped out to a 42-14 halftime lead and never looked back posting an 83-30 win at Penn State Hazleton Tuesday night in the Lady Colonels season opener.

Wilkes improves to 1-0 on the year.

Freshman Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) paced the Lady Colonels with 18 points in her collegiate debut. Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) followed with 12 points and five rebounds, while rookie forward Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and a team-high 11 boards in her first game at Wilkes. Amanda Pawlowski (Nanticoke, PA/Holy Redeemer) ran the Colonel offense with six assists on the night.

Wilkes will return to action Thursday when they continue their early season road test with a non-conference tilt at Keystone College Thursday in LaPlume, Pa. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
