LADY COLONELS FALL ON THE ROAD AGAINST MARYWOOD, 68-45
SCRANTON, PA – The Wilkes women's basketball teams' three-game winning streak came to an end as the Lady Colonels fell to Marywood University on the road 68-45 at Insalaco Arena in non-conference play.
The Lady Colonels drop to 3-1 on the season. The Pacers improve their record to 3-1 overall.
The first ten minutes of play in the 1st half was head to head between Wilkes and Marywood. There were three lead changes within that time frame. With 08:54 left in the first half Marywood started to open it up as they went on a 6-0 run adding their lead to 13. At the half it was Marywood 34 and Wilkes 18.
In the second half the Pacers increased their lead to 27 with 10:14 left to play in the game. In the paint, Marywood had 12 points compared to Wilkes eight. The Pacers added 22 points off the bench while the Lady Colonels had 11.
Wilkes University was led by Whitney Connolly (Liberty, PA/Liberty) who had 15 points, shooting 6-9 from the field. She also added two assists and one rebound. Ginny Edwards (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) led the squad with 11 total rebounds, seven defensive and four offensive. Edwards also had three blocks on the night.
Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) had an impact on the night all around, recording five points, five rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Amanda Pawlowski (Nanticoke, PA/Holy Redeemer) was once again the assist leader with 4, which brings her total assists to 23 on the season.
The Lady Colonels are back in action as they play their first Freedom Conference game on the year against Misericordia on Wednesday, November 30th at 6:00 p.m.
