Box Score

CENTER VALLEY – Sam Lynam (Spinnerstown/Quakertown) and Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) combined for 31 points but it wasn't enough as Wilkes fell to DeSales at Center Valley, 83-51. With the loss the Lady Colonels fall to 6-18, 2-11 on the season.

In the opening minutes of the game Wilkes struggled offensively, surrendering several turnovers to an aggressive DeSales press in the first six minutes. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs capitalized on those turnovers, establishing a 16-5 lead six and a half minutes into the contest. Over the next two minutes Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) hit two three-pointers to help keep the Lady Colonels in the game.

As the half surged on, the DeSales press proved to be too much for Wilkes, as the Bulldogs scored multiple baskets off of turnovers from their pressure. Wilkes found it difficult to work for an open shot, finding itself down 41-15 with 3:40 left in the period. Two free throws and a basket by Sam Lynam (Spinnerstown/Quakertown) with a field goal from Erin Schneider (Colchester, CT/Holy Name) gave Wilkes a little offensive momentum, heading into the break down 46-21.

Wilkes was led by Lynam and Kazmerski in the half, each of whom had six points in 16 minutes of play. The Lady Colonels shot 34.8 percent from the field, but were also forced into 20 turnovers in the half, which led to 27 DeSales points. The Bulldogs also shot over 57 percent from the floor in the half.

The second half began with the Lady Colonels stepping up their pressure and forcing turnovers from DeSales. Meanwhile, Wilkes looked to the long ball to climb back into the game, as Kazmerski and Lynam each hit early three-pointers.

Through the middle portion of the half, Wilkes again had difficulties scoring, while DeSales made many trips to the foul line and pulled down multiple offensive rebounds to build a 33 point lead with 8:35 left in the contest. Wilkes couldn't establish an offensive rhythm against the DeSales defense the rest of the game, ultimately falling 83-51.

Wilkes was led by Lynam with 18 points in the game, while Kazmerski had 13 points and nine rebounds. Schneider chipped in eight points, as Wilkes shot just 26.2 percent from the field on the contest.

The Lady Colonels will compete in their last regular season game when they face off against cross-town rival King's on Saturday, Feb. 19 at King's College. That game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
