WILKES-BARRE – Four players scored in double digits for the Lady Colonels but it wasn't enough as Wilkes University fell to Misericordia University 69-55 in Freedom Conference women's basketball action on Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Colonels found themselves down 13-2 less than six minutes into the game, but they came back by finishing the remainder of the half on a 22-18 run and down only seven points at the break. Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) was the driving force behind the run as she had eight points and two steals in the first half.

The second half belonged to the Cougars as they took a 19-point lead off of a Tyann McDaniel three-pointer with 12:54 left to play. Wilkes was able to cut the lead to 12 with a Kazmerski three-pointer with 2:23 left, but Misericordia was able to hold off the Lady Colonels rally.

After shooting just 27 percent from the arc in the first half, Wilkes shot 42 percent in the second half. Unfortunately, Misericordia shot 59 percent from the floor in the second half behind Christine Marks 20 points and six rebounds. Marks finished the game with 32 points and 11 rebounds.

Sam Lynam (Spinnerstown/Quakertown) was Wilkes leading scorer with 15 points and shot 7-of-8 from the free throw line. The 15 points makes Lynam just 48 points shy of 1,000 for her career.
