Box Score

WILKES-BARRE – Keri Meerholz (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) and Allie Grippo (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) each had three goals but it wasn't enough as the Lady Colonels fell to Lebanon Valley on Friday evening at the Ralston Athletic Complex, 17-9.

For the third straight game, Wilkes scored the first goal of the game, this time coming in the form of an Olivia Dworak (Dupont, PA/Wyoming Seminary) goal less than a minute into the contest. The Dutchmen answered with four goals of their own before Meerholz broke the silence with her first score halfway through the period.

Lebanon Valley kept up the pace though, scoring five of the next six goals and holding a 9-3 advantage at the break.

In the second period the Dutchmen added three more scores before Grippo took over for a two minute period, scoring three goals and making the score 12-6 with 20 minutes lift to play. Lebanon Valley recovered by scoring three consecutive goals of its own and extending its lead to nine once again.

Meerholz found the back of the net two more times and Gabby Ford (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) added a score but it was too little too late as Wilkes ultimately fell by a score of 17-9.

The Lady Colonels were led by Meerholz and Grippo with three scores apiece, while Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, PA/Dallas), Dworak, and Ford each had a goal on the evening. Justine Thimmel (Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock) recorded nine saves in the contest.

The Lady Colonels will now head to St. Davids to take on Eastern on Saturday, April 9. That game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
