EDWARDSVILLE -- Lyndsay Ellis (Shavertown, PA/Dallas)' goal and assist sparked the Wilkes University women's soccer team to its third Freedom Conference victory with a 4-0 win over visiting DeSales University Wednesday evening at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

With the victory, the Lady Colonels improve to 9-3-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 Freedom play record. The Bulldogs fall to 6-6-1 and 1-2 in Freedom play.

In the second half, the Lady Colonels aggressive style of play paid off as they landed three goals in net. In the 61st minute, Megan Binder (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon ) put her header in the right post off a corner kick from Ellis. The Lady Colonels got on the board again at the 68:57 mark, Alicia Roberts (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland) scored on a dish from Katie Hughes (New Tripoli, PA/Northwestern Lehigh). Wilkes scored their fourth and final goal of the day on a Katy Fissel (Madison, NJ/Madison) penalty kick at the 82:14 mark.

The Lady Colonels have won five of their last six games. Wilkes also sported their eighth team defensive shutout against DeSales which sets a single season school record.
