LADY COLONELS MOVE TO 2-0 WITH 90-54 WIN AT PSU WILKES-BARRE
 
LEHMAN, PA – Sophomore Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) fired in a career-high 29 points in just 21 minutes of play to lead visiting Wilkes University to an easy 90-54 victory over Penn State Wilkes-Barre Saturday afternoon in non-conference play.
 
Wilkes improves to 2-0 with the win, while Penn State Wilkes-Barre falls to 2-3 on the season.
 
Stambone was on fire from the start connecting on five three-pointers throughout while adding a team-high eight rebounds and four assists. The Lady Colonels held a commanding 49-17 lead at the break and never looked back outscoring the Mountain Lions by four (41-37) in the second frame as 16 different Wilkes players saw minutes in the contest.
 
Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) followed Stambone with 16 points on 7-for-15 shooting while dishing out four assists. Seniors Jana Martin (Lititz, PA/Manheim Central) and Angela Palmerio (Telford, PA/Lansdale Catholic) each added 10 points to round-out the Lady Colonels in double figures.
 
Jalicia Robinson led PSU Wilkes-Barre with 22 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Wilkes shot 43.5 percent (37-85) from the floor while limiting the Mountain Lions to just 37.7 percent (20-53) shooting from the field with pressure full court defense.
 
Wilkes returns home Tuesday against Marywood University for a non-conference tilt schedule for 6:00 p.m. before breaking for the Thanksgiving holiday.
