With the loss, Wilkes moves to 3-2 and 0-2 in Freedom play while DeSales improves to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Freedom. In the first half, the Lady Colonels got things started right away when Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) fed Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) for her first three-pointer of the night. Kazmerski kept things rolling, when she added another jumper a minute later, with Stambone and Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) following up on a pair of layups. Up 9-4, Stambone paced the Lady Colonel offense by scoring eight of their next eleven points. Up 27-16, Cara Basile (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) swooshed two free throws and Lindsey Chester (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield Secondary) made a move inside the paint on a feed from Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) to give Wilkes the 31-16 advantage. Kazmerski nailed another three-pointer before Kayla Brahm (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) got into the mix with a layup of her own. With four seconds on the clock before the half, Kazmerski hit on a half court three-pointer as the buzzer sounded to put Wilkes up 42-24 at the break. In the second half, the Lady Colonels cooled off and the Bulldogs capitalized on their opportunities. After a pair of DeSales free throws, Stambone laced a jump shot to put the Lady Colonels up 44-26. Ellen Rich (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall) forced a Bulldog turnover and then fed Ginny Edwards (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) for the layup in transition to put Wilkes in favor of a 48-29 score. After a pair of made Stambone free throws, the Lady Colonels saw their 50-29 advantage dissipate into a 50-40 advantage after the Bulldogs got hot on the three-point stroke of Sondrine Glovas. The Bulldogs climbed back and scored 12 of the next 14 points in the game to tie the ballgame at 52-52. The Bulldogs found their first lead of the game when a Colleen Gavin jumper found the net in transition. Brown scored back-to-back-to-back layups for Wilkes to keep them ahead by one point, 58-57 with 3:45 to play in the game. Kazmerski scored on another layup to bring Wilkes to within three, but the Lady Colonels failed to find the rim down the stretch and DeSales squeaked by with a 63-60 win. Wilkes was led by Stambone's 23 point effort while Kazmerski added 17 tallies of her own and shooting 4-of-8 from behind the arc. Rich led the frontcourt with 12 boards and three blocks. The Bulldogs were led by Glovas' 23 points and Megan Gallagher's nine point ten rebound effort.
