Wilkes concludes its season standing 6-19 overall and 1-13 in the conference. King's improves to 21-4 on the year and 13-1 in Freedom play. King's enters next week's Freedom Conference Tournament as the number one seed. A three-pointer by King's Katlin Michaels got the game started. Wilkes went on a 4-0 run early in the game. With 16 minutes on the clock King's was up by three, 10-7. For the rest of the first half the teams traded baskets. At the nine minute marker a layup by Wilkes Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) gave the Lady Colonels their largest lead of the day up six, 21-15. King's answered and with less than one minute remaining they held a slight edge, 27-26. At the half, it was King's 34 and Wilkes 26. The second stanza of action was primary controlled by King's. The Lady Monarchs led by as many as 17 just four minutes into the second half, 43-26. Wilkes used a 10-0 run to cut the deficit to 12 points with six minutes and change ticking off the clock, 58-46. A jumper by Whitney Connolly (Liberty, PA/Liberty) pulled the Lady Colonels to within seven points, 65-58. King's was able to hold on and earn their thirteenth Freedom victory on the season. Three players for Wilkes posted double figures, Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) (16), Kazmerski (12) and Angela Palmerio (Telford, PA/Lansdale Catholic) (10). Allison Walsh (Dickson City, PA/Mid Valley) grabbed 12 rebounds on the day, nine defensive and three offensive. For King's three players hit double figures. Katlin Michaels lead the way with 15 points, eight assists and three rebounds. Amanda Pawlowski (Nanticoke, PA/Holy Redeemer) broke the single season assist record of 112 held by Lori Cashour (1981-82). Pawlowski posted 114 assists on the year in her junior campaign. Freshman Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) finished her rookie season ranked eighth in program history for scoring by a freshman with 305 points. Before the game senior, Wilkes lone senior member, Whitney Connolly (Liberty, PA/Liberty), was honored for all of her accomplishments wearing the Navy and Gold for the past four years.
