WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS 60-57 IN OVERTIME AT MCDANIEL TIPOFF TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
 
WESTMINSTER, MD --  The Lady Colonels lost a heartbreaker in the championship game of the McDaniel Tipoff Tournament losing to host McDaniel College 60-57 in overtime on Saturday evening.  With the loss the Colonels fall to 1-1 overall while McDaniel improves to 2-0 on the season.
 
In what was a back and forth game the Lady Colonels held a slim 33-30 halftime lead but were unable to make the lead stand as McDaniel outscored Wilkes 24-21 in the second half to force overtime.  In the overtime Wilkes was outscored 6-3 in leading to the final score of 60-57.
 
Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) led the Lady Colonels offensively with 20 points while Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) collected a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.  Ellen Rich (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall) helped the Lady Colonels on the boards as she collected 11 and fellow teammate Ginny Edwards (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) finished with 10.
 
For her fine scoring efforts throughout the tournament, Scambone was named to the all-tournament squad.  She scored 45 points, had 6 assists and 5 rebounds in two games.
 
The Lady Colonels return to action Tuesday when they travel to Marywood University for a non-conference showdown.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. from Scranton.
