Wilkes drops its second straight league contest falling to 0-2 in the conference and 1-6 overall. DeSales improves to 5-2 overall following the win and evens its conference mark at 1-1. The host Bulldogs jumped out to a 33-22 halftime lead thanks to its pressure full court defense which caused 19 of Wilkes' season high 29 turnovers in the stanza. The Lady Colonels kept the game within 12 points for most of the first half as Ginny Edwards (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South)' score inside the paint cut the DeSales lead to 31-22 with just under thirty seconds to play in the half. A DeSales jumper with seven ticks on the clock gave the Bulldogs an 11-point halftime lead they would never relinquish. The DeSales lead grew to as many as 27 points in the second frame as Wilkes was unable to find much momentum offensively in the contest. The Lady Colonels shot a season-low 34.7 percent (17-49) from the field and made just three of ten three-point attempts as a team. Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) led the Wilkes offense with 14 points, the seventh consecutive game reaching double figures for the standout junior guard. Kayla Brahm (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) added seven points, while Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) contributed six points and two rebounds. Sondrine Glovas topped the DeSales attack with a game-high 22 points including four treys while adding a team-high eight rebounds. Alexiah Grant chipped in 14 points and three rebounds. Three other Bulldogs scored six or more points as DeSales shot just 33.3 percent (22-66) from the field by outrebounded Wilkes 45-35 leading to 23 second chance points. Wilkes remains idle through the Christmas holiday returning to the court January 3 when the Lady Colonels travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to compete in the Moravian College Holiday Tournament.
